Today I bring you a Little Black Dress canvas creation for our Feb challenge at Colorful Creations.
Someone once said that every woman needs to have that little black dress in her closet...you know, for that special occasion, so here is mine...No really, the thought of me wearing a little black dress for real does not sound fun, but making this cute little Black Dress canvas piece was.

The Challenge For February is we would like for you to create a project of your choice (layout, card, mixed media, off the page, etc...) using only the colors BLACK, WHITE plus ONE OTHER COLOR. Sounds like fun doesn't it!
How it's made
I used an 8x8 canvas. I started out by stenciling the canvas, then painted with it with black gesso. I then added two more stenciling layers; the first being, the white flowers, then the gold swirl. I then added a little bit of German Silver Gilders Paste throughout the piece. The wooden birdcage has been painted with gesso and gold metallic paint. The two chipboard pieces; the filigree and clock, have been painted with black gesso and antique gold paint The flowers have been sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Pirate's Plunder Moon Shadow Mist.
To make the dress, I first sculpted the dressform using Premo Polymer Clay. Once the clay was baked, I needed to get the dressform made into a cast. I did this by paper mache-ing the dressform. After the dress cast was made, I painted it black, then made a little dress with fabric, by using a simple stitch.
