I am excited about Lindy's Stamp Gang January Color Challenge. The colors are nice light and dark neutrals with silver and gold type colors. The palette conjured so many ideas for me, so much so, that I created a couple of projects until I settled on the one I wanted to submit. Really, I had fun playing with the January's sprays and embossing powders. So for my submission, I made a birdcage with birds on a frame. I like the meaning of birdcages; to me it says, allow yourself to be free, and soar towards your dreams.
How it's made
Only colors used on this project were Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays color set for January as well as the embossing powders. The substrate is a paper mache frame, which I wrapped with book paper, then stenciled the bricks, and flowers; and painted the entire piece with gesso. Then came the fun part, spraying the frame. The birdcage is made of watercolor paper, which sprayed with Pirate's Plunder Gold then embossed with Starbright Gold Green Embossing Powder. The birds are made using a mold and paper clay. I sprayed the birds and embossed with Silver Moon Mistletoe and Starbright Gold and Green powders. The words were stamped then embossed. The flowers are made of paper and have been treated with Pirate's Plunder Gold spray.
