I go through phases in life, where I am into certain shapes, patterns, techniques, items in art and I don't even know why. I have many right now; I am creating art with these obsessions. Yes, I usually several projects going on at a time and they vary the gamut; abstracts, clay, sculptures. I decided to act on two of those obsessions in an Art Journal Page. Asemic writing and abstract figures. Asemic writing is a wordless form of writing; it’s making words look real, but it’s not meant to be read. A very fine mark making tool and a medium is ideal for Asemic writing. I used Imagine’s irRESISTible Pico Embellisher for Asemic writing marks inside a silhouette stencil. For the background I used a combination of All-Purpose inks, Fireworks! Sprays and stenciled some patterns. How many times over can we traverse these transitions from one phase of our lives to another? Many, I presume, and a few are more obvious and public than others. In our midlife years, we are again looking back and searching forward, often with a number of an equivalent fear and ambivalence that we felt during earlier passages. Uncertainty and restlessness seem to measure in us. Writing is a superb technique to assist us navigate these challenging transitions of life. In my work I even have been privileged to possess clients write their stories and share them with me, or more importantly, we share together what it seems like to write down or illustrate a story.
